Improving the environment; Power Electronics’ ongoing challenge
Raising awareness among those around us about the importance of small daily actions plays a key role in the long term, and it’s in our hands to teach future generations how to take care of the planet.

Living sustainably and taking care of the environment is everyone’s responsibility. Many companies are committed to preserving our surroundings because the consequences of not taking care of the planet can be devastating.
Electric mobility is here to stay, and users are increasingly opting for hybrid or fully electric vehicles. It is estimated that just one electric vehicle can save 4.6 metric tons of greenhouse gases, the same effect as planting 209 trees.
All the cars in the world produce ten times more polluting gases than all the Earth’s active volcanoes together, leading to high levels of air pollution that represent significant health risks.
For this reason, the objective of Power Electronics’ Mobility Division is clear: achieve a cleaner future while protecting the environment. For example, the chargers installed for the transportation of the tennis players during the Mutua Madrid Open 2023 avoided more than 38 tons of CO2 emissions.
But that’s not all. Solar energy is the most abundant energy resource on the planet, and many are the positive effects it has on the environment.
- Less air pollution: Solar energy doesn’t emit air pollutants, which can cause heart diseases, cancer, and respiratory illnesses like asthma.
- No waste or water pollution: This is a very important factor in preserving marine ecosystems.
- Sustainable solution: Solar energy has become cheaper than many other conventional energy sources.
Furthermore, energy storage is a key component for the future of renewables, as it has become an integral tool for energy companies. Among different energy storage systems, batteries are one of the most widely employed technologies due to their flexibility and adaptability to various environments.
According to reports from the International Energy Agency, the installed capacity of renewables worldwide will increase by 107 gigawatts (GW), the largest absolute increase in history, surpassing 440 GW by 2023.
Power Electronics has 70 GW of installed AC power, which has prevented the discharge of more than 70.5 million tons of CO2 into the environment. Moreover, the company has a production capacity of 30 GW, leading the installation of solar inverters for photovoltaic plants throughout the American continent and ranking as the fourth company worldwide. Its products are present in nearly 2000 plants across 35 world countries.
