On February 10, the Colegio Sedaví, located in the town of the same name and affected by the DANA storm, received the visit of the renowned influencer and science communicator Clara Inés Alcolado, who gave an inspiring talk and a scientific workshop to more than 100 students of 5th and 6th grade.

Under the title "Discovering Chemistry Hand in Hand with a Female Scientist", the activity sought to inspire new generations and promote their interest in science. Clara Inés, also known as @claraialcolado, shared her experience and knowledge in an educational and entertaining way. The goal of the 25-year-old chemistry influencer and pre-doctoral researcher at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, with 84,000 followers on Instagram and more than 100,000 on TikTok, is "to inspire children to see science as something fun, accessible and relevant".

Desde nuestro inicio en el ámbito de la movilidad eléctrica, hemos defendido que la carga rápida es fundamental para impulsar la movilidad sostenible, cargando vehículos en cuestión de minutos, ofreciendo eficiencia a los usuarios y reduciendo considerablemente los costes, especialmente cuando se implementa en vehículos profesionales.

Place to Plug irrumpió en el mercado español como una aplicación colaborativa y en la actualidad ha evolucionado en una solución para el despliegue de la infraestructura de recarga, que cuenta con funcionalidades de Smart Charging para la gestión de energía suministrada, monitorización y explotación de puntos de recarga, así como el control de negocio y obtención de información relevante acerca del mismo, como el consumo de energía realizado por los cargadores, tiempos de uso, ubicaciones más utilizadas o la evolución de los ingresos obtenidos.

Power Electronics to showcase cutting-edge solar solutions at RE+ 2024

Milence, the joint venture between Daimler Truck, the TRATON GROUP and Volvo Group successfully tested a new Megawatt Charging System (MCS) solution together with Power Electronics, the leading manufacturer of solar inverters for photovoltaic plants and world leader in energy storage, and leading company in the electric mobility sector, after entering a partnership and planning to roll out this new technology for the 1st time with Milence, in what will be one of the first commissioning in Europe for this electric vehicle charger. This test marks a significant milestone in the evolution of electric truck charging technology, achieving a charging power of 1,100 kilowatts.  

The Megawatt Charging System (MCS) is the newly defined standard for high-power charging, designed to meet the needs of the growing electric truck market. 

The recent test, conducted with a prototype of the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600, demonstrates the potential of MCS to dramatically reduce charging times, making electric trucks more practical and efficient for long-haul transport.

Megawatt charging refers to a high-power charging system capable of delivering up to 3.75 megawatts (3,750 kilowatts) of DC power. The solution tested by Milence and Power Electronics will reduce charging times by around 90%, allowing batteries to be charged in around 30 minutes, thanks to the 1,440 kW (1,500 A, 1,000 V) power that can be achieved.

As a leader in the development of public charging solutions for heavy duty electric vehicles in Europe, Milence has been collaborating with partners to further develop MCS technology and accelerate market adoption. This promising progress will be followed by additional testing in the coming weeks, involving several truck brands, to ensure the system's readiness for market deployment.

Milence will attend IAA Transportation, the leading platform for logistics, commercial vehicles, and the transport sector in Hanover, Germany from September 17th to 22nd, 2024 and will be showcasing the recently tested solution together with Power Electronics. The booth located in Hall 12 will be miniature of a Milence Charging Hub and will allow visitors to discover the European network roll out as well as engage in exciting workshops and presentations.

The 2 companies entered a partnership earlier this year with the aim to deploy one of the 1st MCS (Megawatt Charging System) solutions in Europe during the 2nd half of 2024. The new technology will be a game changer and completely redefine electric road transport. The pilot test was conducted with a prototype of the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600. Milence and Power Electronics successfully test a new Megawatt Charging System solution delivering a 1.1 MW charge 

Power Electronics has launched, for the second consecutive year, a special campaign focused on preventing skin cancer. With this campaign, the company aims to raise awareness among its employees about potential solar damage during the summer season, one of the most common health issues in society. This initiative, led by the multinational company’s medical team, seeks to educate and prevent the harm caused by improper sun exposure, promoting skin care and protection habits.

The campaign, which began in June and continues through July, features renowned professionals like Dr. Carlos Guillén, former Head of the Dermatology Department at the Valencian Institute of Oncology, who has conducted medical consultations with interested employees to prevent and treat skin irregularities.

Additionally, Power Electronics' medical team has carried out skin check-ups using a UV lamp to help patients visualize the damage caused by sun exposure.

**Focusing on Employee Health**

This campaign is just one of many actions within Power Electronics' Health Promotion Strategy, which emphasizes other risk factors throughout the year. Power Electronics strengthens its commitment to staff health with a Skin Cancer Prevention Campaign

Power Electronics launches a key solution for the mobility of the future. It is the MCS (Megawatt Charging System), its most powerful charger to date, which will drive the electric mobility sector through the ultra-fast charging of heavy vehicles.

**Net-Zero Emissions Goal**

Sustainable mobility is crucial in the energy transition; for this reason, it is important to develop an electric vehicle fleet and charging solutions that meet user’s needs. 

Until now, heavy electric vehicles faced charging times of 1.5 to 7 hours depending on the model and the infrastructure used. With Power Electronics' MCS Solution, these same vehicles will be able to charge their batteries from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes thanks to the 1,440 kW (1,500 A, 1,000 V) power it can reach.

Considering that these types of vehicles produce at least 63% less emissions during their lifespan compared to diesel, implementing the MCS system is the first step towards expanding a charging network for medium and long-distance transport.

Both charge point operators and companies with heavy vehicle fleets will benefit from the product's advantages by being able to charge up to four vehicles simultaneously, with the flexibility to configure the number of MCS and CCS dispensers that best suit the needs of each project, up to a maximum of four dispensers.

"In 2022, the Spanish transport sector emitted 90.46 Mt of CO2, with road transport being responsible for 28.4% of this figure. If we want to achieve the decarbonization goals set by the EU, we face a very ambitious challenge but, thanks to our MCS solution, it is realistic since we offer an effective alternative for companies with vehicle fleets," highlights Raúl Padierna, Chief Sales Officer of Power Electronics.

The solution from Power Electronics will reduce charging times by approximately 90%, and will allow land transport professionals to charge their trucks within a similar time frame to the mandatory rest stop.

In a market where 75% of users are concerned about reaching a charging station and finding all chargers available, offering solutions that allow fast and ultra-fast charging is one of the factors that will make it possible to increase the number of electric mobility users.

Power Electronics launches its MCS system, the most powerful charger to date

L’Alqueria del Basket hosted the second edition of the 3x3 Basketball Tournament organized by Power Electronics on June 1. Over 320 members of the Valencian multinational company gathered for this exciting event, where the spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship was evident in every match throughout the morning.

Upon arrival at L’Alqueria del Basket, the 64 teams received a Welcome Pack containing personalized team shirts for each of the 5 participants. By 8:45 a.m., with all attendees ready, a presentation was held on the central court. The event was energized by the speaker Ngadj, who entertained the participants throughout the sports event, and motivated the teams during the matches held on the 8 courts.

After the welcome speech, a motivational video was shown to all attendees, the participants posed for the team picture, and then the competition began.

The final match concluded around 2:00 p.m., followed by the award ceremony for the winning teams.

- First place team: The Chicago Bugs received 5 medals, 5 Valencia Basket team shirts for next year, and 5 tickets to a game.
- Second place team: The Maccabidespertar received 5 medals and 5 tickets to a game.
- Third place team: The Estrella Coja de Belgrado received 5 medals.
- Christian Sena, winner of the three-point contest, obtained a double pass to watch a game.

The medals were custom-made in 3D with an exclusive design, crafted from PLA, a biodegradable and environmentally friendly material.

Once the awards ceremony concluded, the catering began at 2:30 p.m. on one of the courts, where all participants capped off the great sports day.

Power Electronics achieves record revenues exceeding 1.2 billion US dollars in 2023

Power Electronics, global leader in manufacturing energy storage inverters, leading manufacturer of solar inverters for photovoltaic plants, and a reference in the electric mobility sector, has announced the sponsorship agreement for the 22nd edition of the Mutua Madrid Open tennis tournament, taking place from April 22 to May 5 at the Caja Mágica (Madrid). In this new edition, Power Electronics aims to reduce the tournament's CO2 emissions by 30% compared to the previous year by increasing charging points, achieving zero-emission transportation for the Mutua Madrid Open players' transfers.

Thanks to more than 1,900 recharges that will take place during the edition, a significant environmental impact is expected, saving 49 tons of CO2 over the 14 days, equivalent to planting 2,227 trees.

Currently, the European electricity market operates under a remuneration system based on the marginalist market, meaning that the electricity price is determined by the last generating unit to come online to meet demand. However, this market outlines significant challenges in a constantly evolving environment, especially when it comes to integrating renewable energy sources and energy storage. 

As part of its commitment to energy transition, Spain is considering a proposal that could change the way electricity stored in batteries is compensated. According to the Energy Storage Strategy of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (Miteco), the country is at a turning point in its path towards a more sustainable energy system. 

Specifically, Spain has proposed combining a short-term market with other capacity markets. This proposal aims to address the challenges of the current marginalist market and enable a fairer and more predictable compensation for electricity stored in batteries. 

**Energy storage needs in Spain**

Spain projects its minimum storage needs to be approximately 20GW by 2030 and 30GW by 2050. These figures are far from the current 8.3GW of storage capacity available today. 

The increase in energy storage demand is closely related to the growing penetration of intermittent renewable energy sources such as solar and wind, which require storage solutions to ensure a constant energy supply. 

Such solutions require an industrial fabric with companies at the forefront of technology and that actively invest in research and development for their design and manufacture.

Improving the environment; Power Electronics’ ongoing challenge


As part of the Health Promotion Strategy, Power Electronics has launched the Skin Cancer Prevention Campaign with the start of summer.

The campaign, which began in June and will continue throughout July, will include information and advice to raise awareness about the risk factors of sun exposure without proper protection.  

In addition, the dermatologists from IMR will conduct check-ups at the Power Electronics’ Campus for three days, facilitating employees to consult with a specialist at their workplace.

Among the tips that the company gives to its employees is the expiration date of sunscreens, highlighting the importance of being cautious with old ones. Cosmetics products include a symbol called PAO (Period After Opening), along with the list of ingredients and usage recommendations, which indicates how long the product remains in good conditions after being opened. 

On the other hand, **Dr. Manuel Ballesteros**, dermatologist from **IMR**, points out the *“8 out of 10 cases of skin cancer can be prevented with early diagnosis”*. The specialist emphasizes primary prevention related to using adequate protection and self-examination of moles and skin spots. 

The **doctor** highlights that **digital dermatoscopy** is key in the diagnosis of skin cancer. Visiting the dermatologist is vital if any alteration in moles or skin is observed. This examination must be included in our annual medical check-up. *“Our advanced dermatology specialists use digital dermatoscopy (Fotofinder), which not only reveals the condition of moles, but also allows us to detect new lesions in time”*. 

Moreover, IMR is pioneer in addressing cutaneous cancer through Mohs micrographic surgery, a technique that allows the removal this type of skin tumor and an immediate analysis of the range of the lesion, avoiding the destruction of healthy tissue, which enables a high recovery rate. 

This is just the first of a series of actions within the Health Promotion Strategy, which will include raising awareness about other risk factors throughout the next year.

On June 14, the World Blood Donor Day is celebrated, a date that wants to thank volunteer donors and raise awareness about the importance of regular donations to guarantee blood quality, security and availability. Blood transfusions save each year millions of lives, prolong the life of patients with serious diseases and make complex medical and surgical operations possible. Also, they play a vital role in maternal and child care and in the emergency responses in natural disasters or caused by human beings. 

For this reason, just as its innovative solutions are designed to promote sustainability, Power Electronics carries out these solidary actions to build a healthier society and provide a better future for new generations.

With a single donation, that takes from 5 to 15 minutes, up to 3 lives can be saved. A person that donates blood every two months from the age of 18 to 65 could save more than 57 lives.

In Power Electronics we bet on the responsibility of products, prevention, recycling, reuse and other ways of waste recovery and disposal. Since 2022 we replace inner packaging with returnable systems that allow saving carton and plastic.

All of our products take into account the entire life cycle for preventing and reducing the environmental impact in any of its stages: design, raw materials, manufacturing, packaging, transport, functioning, maintenance and recycling of the devices.

On the occasion of the Global Recycling Day, we have wanted to highlight the waste management, both inner and external, launching a raising awareness campaign so that those who are part of the company understand the importance of being sustainable at home too.

**Do you know how many times different materials are recycled if they are separated correctly?**

Each container can be reused and can have a second life. If you recycle properly, placing waste in its appropriate trash can, the containers adapt better to the existent automatic selection plants and adapting them to the recycling processes is easier.

- Paper can be recycled up to 7 times if you place it in the blue trash can.
- Metal can be recycled indefinitely: iron, steel, aluminum, copper, bronze, brass and lead are recyclable metals that can be reused unlimitedly without losing their properties. All of them are materials that are present in our daily life.
- Carton decomposes and each part can be reused if you place it in the yellow trash can. A hydrapulper is used for the complete recycling of these cans. It is a machine where carton is soaked to separate its different layers. After, the paper fiber is separated through filtration, and it can be reused in paper manufacturing.
- Plastic transforms in a new raw material by cleaning, grinding and extruding techniques, such as garbage bags, hangers or pallets.
- According to the World Bank, more than 1,3 trillion tons of garbage are produced annually, being 27% plastic and paper.

In Power Electronics we recycle both plastic and paper. Sin the beginning of 2021, in our production plant we have several clean points, where workers throw waste that has been produced.

Each small action counts and in Power Electronics we bet on the principle “reduce, reuse and recycle”; we avoid plastic bags and opt for cloth bags when new employees join the company.

This is all part of our sustainability strategic plan. We also have a bus for workers to reach the Campus, reducing this way daily emissions in each journey. Our corporate fleet is also 100% electric and we have more than 10 charging points for employees in the Campus. We have also started to electrify the merchandise transport fleet between our workplaces.

In 2022 we eliminated from the Power Electronics’ Campus all the single use plastics, which meant a daily saving of 140kg of CO2.

On the occasion of the Global Recycling Day, the company carried out and action where nearly 30 families participated. Thanks to the activities based in “reduce, reuse and recycle”, both parents and kids were able to learn how small recycling actions have an impact in their daily life.

In recent years, the need to electrify roads worldwide has become increasingly important due to the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change.
