The HEM medium-voltage inverter from Power Electronics is designed for utility scale solar applications that require the advantages of a central inverter combined with the modular design of string architecture. The medium-voltage equipment is likewise integrated into the package.
FIELD REPLACEABLE UNITS
The Freesun HEM unit is the only solar inverter on the market to integrate the transformer and medium-voltage cells into the same set of equipment. Its use in utility-scale plants delivers considerable savings in terms of CAPEX, while greatly simplifying design and installation.
Field Replaceable Units
The Freesun HEM device consists of six FRUs (Field Replaceable Units) designed, as the name implies, for easy replacement in situ. These are connected to each other in such way that if there is a breakdown, the faulty module shuts down and its energy is evenly distributed among the still-active FRUs.
iCOOL 3 is a ventilation system designed to supply a constant flow of clean air to the inside of the equipment without any need for dust filters or liquid cooling.
Multilevel topology is the most efficient way of addressing the management of high DC voltages. This three-level configuration reduces losses at the power stage, increases efficiency and minimizes overall harmonic distortion.
This innovative control mode allows you to reduce medium-voltage transformer loss by up to 25%, and also to cut the plant’s power consumption.
The Freesun HEM unit comes with a high level of protection against external agents such as rain, snow and ice. It is fitted with insulating panels designed to shield it from solar radiation and a casing that provides C4 corrosion protection by default.
During the night, when the inverter does not actively export power, it can import a small amount of energy to prevent internal condensation – without any use of heating elements.
The Freesun HEM if fitted with all the medium-voltage elements. This compact solution simplifies the task of designing the installation, while also reducing connection costs. Its front access also makes it easier to maintain.
The Freesun HEM device allows the connection of up to six Freemaq DC/DC units.
Freesun HEM inverter modules offer a useful service life of more than 30 years’ operation in aggressive environments and under extreme weather conditions. They are tested and configured to withstand anything from the sub-zero temperatures of the Siberian tundra to the searing heat of California’s Death Valley.
Power Electronics participated last November 4 in the test of the St Francis solar plant in East Sussex, driven by one of the world’s leading companies in the development and long-term management of solar projects named Lightsource BP. The test is part of the “Power Potential” project led by National Grid ESO and UK Power […]
Power Electronics exceeds 2.5 GW of installed power in utility scale photovoltaic plants in Spain in 2019. In total, the company has participated in 82 PV projects in Spain. Just in the last year, Power Electronics has participated in 36 projects, which makes the company a leader in sales in this market. All the products comply with all the grid quality requirements, pending the publication of the product certification entities by ENAC.
Power Electronics opens its first delegation in Southeast Asia with the aim of positioning itself in a region with very good growth prospects in the use of renewable energy. By 2040, photovoltaic solar energy will have surpassed coal as the largest source of energy and will provide 49% of the region's electricity needs. Renewable energies are expected to provide 84% of total energy generation by 2050.
