KaXu Solar One, 100 MW parabolic trough plant is near the town of Pofadder in the Northern Cape Province. The plant has a total collector’s surface area of over 800.000sqm, and can deliver up to 100MW with a full-load molten salt storage capacity of 2.5hours. Power Electronics has delivered 7 units of its upgraded variable speed drives XMV660 at 6600V. 15MW; distributed in 3 units of 1250kW that power the feeder water pumps and 4 units of 2800kW that power the HTF pumps. Additionally, 5.7MW of SD700 low voltage variable speed drives distributed in 14 units of 690V that will enable an accurate control of condensate pumps, antifreeze recirculation pumps, hot and cold pumps, and storage pumps, which in some cases are selectively customized to drive ATEX or exhaustive safe applications.
Khi Solar One, 50 MW superheated steam solar tower with two hours of thermal storage and more than 4,000 heliostats is located in the Northern Cape Region of South Africa. Power Electronics has delivered 1250kW, divided into 7 units of its latest low harmonics drive SD700FR. Offering outstanding harmonics and cooling features that enable the unit to work under 50ºC ambient temperature without power derating.
Power Electronics is not only focusing on the incredible growth of Renewable sector, but also placing capital importance in the industrial sector (mining, oil and gas, HVAC, water treatment, etc.) in which the company has extensive experience worldwide and expects steady growth to reinforce its local presence across the country.
